Big Sur Welcomes a New Race Director
Doug Thurston, a veteran in the race management business, has been named Executive Director/Race Director of the Big Sur International Marathon. - One of the country's top three marathons (along with New York and Boston) by the editors of Runner's World magazine, December 2009
- The "Best Destination Marathon" by the readers of Runner's World magazine, January 2010 and 2011, and twice named the "Best Destination Marathon in North America" by the Ultimate Guide to Marathons.
- The only U.S. based race incldued in "Ten Races to Do Before You Die" by Runner's World United Kingdom, March 2010 and by Runner's World Australia, March 2010
