Big Sur Half Marathon Announces Training Clinic

(August 19,  2003 – Carmel, CA) --  A training clinic for the inaugural Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2003 in the Conference Rooms of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula between 9:30 a.m. and noon.


The clinic, led by world-ranked senior runner Mike Dove of Salinas, is geared to the needs of first-time half marathon runners and walkers.  Local experts will speak on a variety of topics, including An Introduction to Running, Buying Shoes and Equipment, Nutrition, Injury Prevention, Motivation and much more.  A Training Guide will be available for a $10.00 donation.


There is no fee for the clinic and all first-time half marathoners are welcome.  In addition to the Half Marathon on November 16, 2003, the Big Sur Marathon is also presenting the Run Forrest Run 5K Run/Walk on the same date.  Further information on both events is available at www.bigsurhalfmarathon.org or by calling the Big Sur office at 831-625-6226.





The 19h annual presentation of the Big Sur International Marathon is set for Sunday, April 25th, 2004  at 7:00 am.  All proceeds from the event will be distributed to nonprofit organizations throughout Monterey County.  Over the past 17 years, over $1,000,000 has been distributed to local charities.  For more information, please visit www.bsim.org,
