For elite adventurer, Charlie Engle, every day brings a new challenge. He has run through some of the most forbidding terrain on the planet and has learned many lessons about life along the way.
With a lot of determination and the ability to endure hardships in every way, Charlie has moved from a life of drugs and alcohol to a life of understanding and learning to live with himself. After many years of sobriety, he has become a top athlete, spokesperson and philanthropist. Charlie will address different ways to handle suffering and remain optimistic in the face of great hardship.

Chairman of the Board Dr. Hugo Ferlito will present a slide show showing the Marathon's history followed by a panel of experts to answer your questions about the Big Sur course. The panel will include Jeff Galloway, Dean Karnazes, Charlie Engle, Lee Scott, Hugo Ferlito and Susan Love.

The Ultramarathon Man will talk about running 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days in addition to welcoming all the Boston 2 Big Sur participants. Dean will be available the entire weekend, including the post-race party to chat with everyone and sign copies of his bestselling books and DVDs.

One of the most beautiful marathons in the world also just happens to be one of, if not the greenest marathon in world. FitPlanet’s Bruce Rayner will discuss how to ‘green’ a race and what specifically Big Sur is going to deliver on Sunday April 25. We’ll also discuss how you can integrate sustainable practices into your own fitness and training regine back home.
