Headquarters for the Marathon is in Monterey, 110 miles south of San Francisco, 400 miles north of Los Angeles. You can fly directly into Monterey Airport; other airport options include San Jose, (70 miles away), San Francisco and Oakland (110 miles). The Monterey Marriott is the headquarters hotel for the 2009 Big Sur International Marathon and related events. Located in historic downtown Monterey adjacent to Fisherman's Wharf, the Marriott features 341 total guestrooms, many with Bay views. The Monterey Marriott is the site for the Saturday evening Pasta Party and is also across the street from the Monterey Conference Center, location of packet pickup and the Marathon Health & Fitness Expo. Race day transportation to the Start of the Marathon is also based from the Marriott. Specially discounted room rates have been secured at the Monterey Marriott as follows:

         
All reservations at the Marriott must be at least a two-night minimum stay. To reserve a room, please click on the link shown above for either a standard or bayview room. A deposit equal to one night's room and tax will be charged for each reservation on April 21, 2009. Any cancellations after this date will forfeit this one night deposit.
