The Big Sur 5K

ENTRY FEE: $30.00 for ages 18 and older through 3/31/09
$20.00 for ages 8 - 17 through 3/31/09
$37.00 for ages 18 and older effective 4/1/09
$25.00 for ages 8-17 effective 4/1/09
RACE DATE APRIL 26, 2009
REGISTRATION Pre-registration is open from 9-1-2008 until 4-17-2009 unless event sells out prior to that date.  There will be race weekend registration at the Expo if the event is still not sold out, fee to be determined, closing at 4:00 pm on Saturday, 4-25-09.  There is NO race day registration.
DIVISIONS Participants in the open 5K have the option to either run or walk the course.  Both runners and walkers are tag timed and all are eligible for awards.

PA/USATF GRAND PRIX CHAMPIONSHIP

PAUSATF

The Big Sur 5K is a member of the PA/USATF Road Grand Prix. AWARD WINNERS MUST BE PACIFIC ASSOCIATION USATF MEMBERS.  PRIZE MONEY IS AWARDED TO PACIFIC ASSOCIATION MEMBERS ONLY.  Their will be a $5,300 PA/USATF Champion prize purse awarded.  Grand Prix divisions contested include the following male and female categories:

Open
Masters
Seniors
Super Seniors
Veterans
Super Veterans

Awards are given based on GUN, not tag times per USATF Rule165.16.

SEEDED BIBS    

Seeded bibs are automatically assigned to all PA/USATF participants.  Non-PA/USATF participants are eligible for seeded bibs if they qualify according to the times below.  They must register via a PAPER ENTRY FORM and provide the name of the race and the qualifying time.

7:35 AM
STARTING PLACE Highway 1 at Rio Road adjacent to the Crossroads Shopping Center, Carmel. You are responsible for transportation to the start.
TIMEKEEPING -
PACE

Chronotrack D-tag timing will be provided by Race Central. These tags are disposable and there is no "lost chip" fee. For more information on this system, click HERE.

ELIGIBILITY Anyone eight years of age or older and in good health.
NO WHEELS, PETS OR CHILDREN UNDER EIGHT ALLOWED ON THE COURSE.
HEADPHONES

In accordance to the recommendations of USATF and the Road Runner's Club of America, we are requesting that you do not use Ipods or other headsets during the event.  Disobeying this rule will not result in disqualification, but you will compromise your safety and that of others by wearing a headset.  If you insist on wearing a headset we ask that you stay in the far right side of the runners lane.  We truly hope you'll opt to leave your headsets at home and instead let the incredible scenery serve as your motivation and inspiration.

Awards three deep for male and female in the following divisions: 
19-24
5-year age groups thereafter through 90+.


OPEN 5K - YOUTH

Awards five deep for male and female in the following divisions:

Ages 8-11
Ages 12-14
Ages 15-18

GOODIES Short sleeve cotton unisex T-shirt to all entrants, post-race refreshments.
