Both the full and half marathon courses are fast and forgiving, with more entertainment per mile than other events, along with excellent volunteer support, and great goodies at the finish including: a mint-struck proof finisher’s medal, two performance shirts, a challenge coin and pendant, to name just a few!
Related events include a 3-day Event Directors’ College, two-day Sports and Fitness Expo, Kids’ Fun Run & Festival, and on Marathon Day, our 10K Downhill Dash and 10K Family Walk—there’s an event for everyone!
Join us in 2012...but hurry, registration for the full marathon will sell out in early summer. The HALF general registration is closed, but entry is still available through our official charities. To learn more, or to register, go to: portlandmarathon.org |

Salinas Valley Half Marathon - August 4, 2012 The Salinas Valley Half Marathon begins in the heart of the valley made famous by John Steinbeck in his novel East of Eden at the historic Soledad Mission. |
|
From the mission, runners head slightly south, then west toward the Santa Lucia Mountains – well-known for vineyards of wine grapes used to produce award-winning pinot noir, chardonnay and syrah – before turning north along the base of the mountains and winding over gently-rolling hills to the west of the Salinas River. On this extremely scenic course, runners will breathe cool, coastal air from the Monterey Bay as they pass fields of row crops and vineyards, before crossing an idyllic finish line among the vines at Pessagno Winery. The course is USATF Certified. Following the race, a Finish Festival includes wine tastings from Salinas Valley wineries and a delicious BBQ. All finishers receive a unique medallion and technical fabric finisher’s shirt. Overall and age division winners receive unique etched wine bottles. The Salinas Valley Half Marathon is held annually on the first Saturday each August. To learn more and register, visit salinasvalleyhalfmarathon.org. |
