Runner's World is returning to the Big Sur International Marathon on April 26, 2015 and will be accepting 300 entrants on a first-come, first-served basis. The RW Challenge is an exclusive opportunity to be coached by Bart Yasso, RW's Chief Running Officer, train with the RW editors, get advice from RW experts on training, nutrition and injury prevention, and be treated like a VIP during race weekend at the "best destination marathon" in North America.

Registration for the 2015 Runner's World Challenge is now SOLD OUT!

The $399 entry fee includes:            

  • Your marathon race entry (even when the open marathon has sold out!)
  • A 4-month customized training plan designed by Runner's World Experts with daily and weekly e-mails explaining the workouts for the week ahead
  • A technical t-shirt with the Runner's World Challenge logo in addition to your ASICS BSIM participant shirt
  • Private race packet and event shirt pickup for all Challengers at the Expo during race weekend
  • A catered VIP hospitality tent at the finish with free post-race massages
  • Private buses to the start in Big Sur
  • VIP tent with private bathrooms at the start
  • Access to a private website for Challengers to connect with other runners taking the Challenge and the RW experts on training, nutrition and injury-prevention
  • Your own sweats drop van at the start that will take your sweats directly to your VIP tent at the finish

NEW FOR 2015:  The Runner's World Challenge Guest Pass*
During registration you will have the opportunity to purchase one or more guest passes, each of which grants your guest access to the RW Challenge VIP tent just steps from the finish line of the 2015 Big Sur International Marathon.  The tent is stocked with snacks and drinks so your guest(s) can enjoy themselves as they sit back, relax, and wait for their runner to finish.  Guest passes can also be purchased at a later date by emailing sally@bsim.org.

*One pass per guest.  This offer is open only to guests of Runner's World Challenge athletes.

The Portola Hotel & Spa will be the official host hotel for the Runner's World Challenge.  Join RW editors and other challengers for a Saturday morning shake-out run, fun social gatherings, a pre-race chat with Bart and the editors, private bus transportation to the start and more.  Located next to the Health & Fitness Expo and just steps from Fisherman's Wharf and the Monterey Bay, the Portola Hotel & Spa is at the center of the action during race weekend.
