Runner's World is kicking off its 2012 Runner's World Challenge series at the Big Sur International Marathon on April 29, 2012! The RW Challenge is an exclusive opportunity to be coached by Bart Yasso, RW's Chief Running Officer, train with the RW editors, get advice from RW experts on training, nutrition and injury prevention, and be treated like a VIP during race weekend at the "best destination marathon" in North America.  The $299 entry fee (plus Active.com's processing fee) includes:
  • Your marathon race entry (even when the open marathon has sold out!)
  • A training plan designed by Bart Yasso with daily or weekly e-mails explaining the workouts for the week ahead
  • A technical t-shirt with the Runner's World Challenge logo
  • Designated race packet and event shirt pickup for all Challengers at the Runner's World Expo booth during race weekend
  • A catered VIP tent at the finish with free post-race massages
  • Private buses to the start in Big Sur where a VIP tent with private bathrooms await
  • Access to a private website for runners taking the Challenge
  • Your own sweats drop van at the start that will take them directly to your VIP tent at the finish
  • A copy of "The Runner's Rule Book", "RW Guide to Road Racing" or "Going Long"
  • Reduced rates at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Monterey, the RW Challenge Host Hotel (see below)

The Hyatt will be the official host hotel for the Runner's World Challenge.  Join RW editors and other challengers for a Saturday morning shake-out run, fun social gatherings, a pre-race chat with Bart and the editors, private bus transportation to the start and more.
