The Grimes Ranch on Highway. You will be bused to the start of the event from locations in Monterey and Carmel.  For a map of departure locations, click HERE.

CONFIRMATION Online entries will be confirmed by e-mail from Active.com. If you have spam filters and/or firewalls in place we cannot guarantee you will receive this email. If you have a gmail account, be sure to check your promotions folder. Entries may be confirmed online by going to the "Entry Confirmation" link.  If you unclicked the box allowing your results to be searchable online at Active.com, or you are under 18 or someone else registered you, your name will not appear.
CANCELLATIONS

Per the marathon running industry policy, all entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. This policy applies to all entrants and is in effect whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, etc. If the course has to be changed or the race cancelled due to an act of nature, there are no refunds or rollovers. There are NO exceptions.

You do have the option to purchase Registration Protector at the time of registration (available on the payment page) through Active.com.  To learn more about this program, click HERE.

Your 2018 entry fee IS NOT TRANSFERABLE to 2019
. You do not need to inform us of your cancellation. If you do cancel, you may take the amount of your entry fee as a charitable donation on your income tax return. The Big Sur International Marathon is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

DOWNGRADING TO A SHORTER DISTANCE EVENT 

If you wish to downgrade to a shorter distance event in 2018 due to injury, limited training, or other reason, we now have a downgrade request window. Downgrades are limited (all race distances sell-out) and available first-come, first-served between January 15 and February 28, 2017 only.  There is a $30 downgrade administrative fee and original entry fees are non-refundable. To request a downgrade, email sally@bsim.org between January 15 and February 28, 2018. Please provide your original event and your requested event distance.

There will be no further downgrades available after February 28 or during race weekend. No exceptions.

ENTRY LIMITS & ELIGIBILITY There are 1,600 combined entries available for the 11-Miler. You must be at least 10 years of age or older to register. The event fills fast so don't wait to register!  Sorry, no animals, pacers, skates, skateboards, bikes, baby joggers or children/infants in backpacks allowed on the course. No bandits. No exceptions.

Participants will receiver a technical fabric shirt in gender specific sizing.  Please see the size chart below.

FINISH The 11-Miler finishes at the Marathon Finish Village at Highway 1 and Rio Road in Carmel. 
IPODS AND AUDIO DEVICES

We do not allow the use of iPods, headphones, ear buds or other MP3 or headphone devices in any of our events. We believe using an audio device will compromise your safety and that of others by hindering your ability to hear verbal instructions or commands from race officials including course marshals on bicycles or to hear vehicles in the lane next to you or emergency vehicles on the course. You are sharing a narrow lane with runners of different speeds completing different race distances. In addition, there is live traffic in the land-side lane of Highway 1 during the race. You must be aware of your surroundings at all times

Because the safety of all of our participants and volunteers is our first priority, we ask that you leave your headsets at home and instead let the incredible scenery, music we provide on the course, and your fellow runners serve as your motivation and inspiration.

PARTICIPANT SHIRTS & MEDALLIONS All participants receive a technical fabric shirt in gender specific sizing and a unique ceramic finisher medallion.

TIMING 

Bib-tag timing is provided by South Valley Endurance. 

The 11-Miler is a timed but NON-COMPETITIVE fitness events and there are no overall or age-group awards.  You may either run or walk the course or do a combination of both.

COURSE A point to point course beginning at mile 15.2 of the Marathon course on Highway 1 and finishing at the Marathon Finish line near Rio Road. Sorry, no animals, pacers, skates, skateboards, bikes, baby joggers or children/infants in backpacks allowed on the course. No bandits. No exceptions.
